A ship’s bell is struck for each half-hour of a four-hour watch, and when a sailor has died, they are honored with the sounding of eight bells; meaning “end of the watch”.
The South Lake Tahoe sailing community mourns the passing of Glenn Barclay — sailor, mentor, and driving force behind the Windjammer’s Junior Sailing Program. His steady leadership and dedication shaped generations of Tahoe sailors and left a lasting mark on our club and community.
We are saddened to share the passing of Dave Wakeman, a gifted sailor and quiet mentor whose steady presence shaped generations of Lake Tahoe sailors. Known for his mastery on the water, his dedication to teaching by example, and his deep roots in Tahoe’s sailing history, Dave leaves behind a legacy of seamanship, sportsmanship, and friendship that will long be felt across the lake and beyond.
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of longtime South Lake Tahoe Windjammers Yacht Club member Diane Martin. Diane’s presence, warmth, and commitment to SLTWYC will be deeply missed.

Tad Woodward passed away November 9, 2024 at the age of 90. He is survived by his wife Pat, two adult children, and four grandchildren.
