Father's Day BBQ & Cruise
It has been a long time tradition of the Windjammer's cruising fleet to have a cruise-out beach party on the Saturday night before Father's Day. To make it easier logistically for more memberships to attend, we moved the event from Emerald Bay boat camp to Baldwin Beach about 8 years ago.
You can anchor outside the Baldwin Beach swim area and use a dingy or kayak to get to the beach. They do not allow the use of motors in the swim area (we got busted one year) so rowing or paddling is necessary. With the long June days, you have the option of sleeping on your boat or heading back to the dock before it gets dark.
For those of you who don't have a boat (or don't want to come by boat) you can drive in and park close to the picnic area. Use the lot to the right when you come in. The Forest Service charges a fee for parking, but I understand there are annual passes and discounts for senors available. Of course, you can park out on Hwy 89 and walk in.
Some of our members are going to show up about 2 pm, get a spot and enjoy a beach day. We are figuring starting a fire around 5 pm and having cocktails and appetizers while it gets hot. Please bring your beverage of choice, something to grill for you and your party and a dish to share (appetizer, salad or dessert). The Club will provide the charcoal. You may also want to bring beach chairs, sunscreen, bug spray and beach toys.
