SLTWYC - South Lake Tahoe Windjammers Yacht Club

To the General Membership,

Summer is in full swing and we have generated a lot of interest in joining our club. We have inducted twelve new members thus far. There have been two very successful social events held at the local Moose Lodge, with lots of positive feedback about the venue location and interest in becoming Moose! So far, nine of our members have officially become Moose. There are two more social events scheduled, on August 4 and September 8 (both Thursdays). The flyer for our August 4 event has been emailed. Please RSVP if you haven't already to Vice Commodore Linda Gordon at 510.813.7815 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Thank you.

Regarding our website, the board made the decision to hire an outside vendor to provide a professional approach and degree of continuity featuring up to date information for our members and the online community. We have done our research and will be signing a contract with a web developer this week. If you have any suggestions or features you would like to see on our website, please let me know at This email address is being protected from spambots. At our previous board meeting, the question was brought up regarding motor boating activities. We introduced the concept of a Cruising Captain chairperson position to facilitate pleasure boating activities and non-competitive sailing cruises. If anyone is interested in this, this is your opportunity to develop the position and make it your own!

On the racing front, the competitive sailing season is well under way. There are the Beer Can Races every Wednesday, and we have our premier sailing event the Southern Crossing this Sunday. Our Rear Commodore Sam Corso recently sent out an email seeking volunteers to operate the Race Committee boat. This is a great way to view the sailboat racing and gain a better understanding of what's involved.

Although our elections for the 2023 season are a few months away, it's never too early to consider serving on our board or as Membership Chairperson or our newly created Cruising Captain Chairperson position. After four years of being Commodore, it's time for me to step down otherwise the Secretary is going to make me walk the plank. HELP…
