SLTWYC - South Lake Tahoe Windjammers Yacht Club

Hi All,

Since we have not been able to be together I wanted to fill you all in about some changes & additions for the SLTWYC Calendar for 2019.

I am sorry we had to cancel the Valentine's event but since the weather did not cooperate it was the only way to go.  I am especially sorry to any of you who did not receive the email of cancelation.  I never know what happens to some of the emails out there is cyberspace!!

Hopefully we will not have another repeat of the weather in March & our St. Patrick's Day event will go as planned for March 16 at the Clubhouse.  We will once again be enjoying a corned beef dinner prepared by John Gerard.  Stay tuned for more information about this to be arriving by March 1.

Please note a change in the date for the Chowder Feed from March 30 to April 6.  This  is the last day for dues to be paid before they will be delinquent.

Opening Day on the Bay  sponsored by PICYA is coming up again on Sunday April 28 with the theme "Holidays on the Bay".

And the best part is that Jim & Carol Crecelius have again offered to host a Cocktail Party at their lovely condominium at Ghirardelli Square on Saturday starting about  4:00.  More info on this to follow.

On Sunday the Opening Day Boat will be leaving from Mariner's Square in Alameda like it did last year.  Parking is much better there than at Pier 1.

Cost for the "Day on the Bay" is $85 Adults/$40 Children.  This cost includes Continental Breakfast & Sit-Down Gourmet Lunch as well as a full day on the Bay & a front row seat for the Opening Day Parade.

Due to the motel costs in San Francisco, we have chosen to stay in Alameda this year & have reservations at the Hawthorne Suites on Webster St.  Room costs are $159 King & $169 for 2 Queens.  I have 3 rooms reserved at this time since they do fill up quickly.  If anyone is interested in these extra rooms please contact me.

If any of you have boats in the Bay during this time and would like to participate in the parade representing SLTWYC it would be wonderful.  Boats in the parade are decorated to the theme however you want.

I have attached registrations for the Day on the Bay & Skipper Instructions.  Information & registration can also be done online at the PICYA website at www.picya.org.

Social Events Group

As you may have noticed we have a very ambitious 2019 YC Calendar especially during the summer.

For this reason I am looking for more members to join our Social Events Group.

The old saying "Many hands make light work" is so true in our situation.  There are many jobs to be done at each event from planning the event, fixing some of the food, decorating the clubhouse,  and cleaning up after the event.

You do not have to be a full time Tahoe resident to join the group.  I will take any of your time that you are willing to give.

If you are interested in joining our group would you please contact me. See info below.

For those of you will be in Tahoe in April, I would like to have a meeting on April 5 or 6.

For those who will not be to Tahoe until summer but are interested would you let me know when you plan to be there.

I look forward to working with all of you who are interested in joining the group.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you during this year & hope you will join us in many of our events.

I you have any questions or suggestions for events please let me know.  We are always open to new ideas.
