PICYA Change of Watch
On January 24, Linda and Gary Gordon attended the 2026 PICYA Change of Watch held at Marin Yacht Club in San Rafael. More than 100 members were present to welcome the new 2026 Board. It was a wonderful evening featuring excellent food and warm camaraderie.
PICYA Leadership Conference – March 7, 2026
PICYA sponsors two conferences each year: a Leadership Conference in the spring and a Management Conference in the fall. These conferences are hosted by various member yacht clubs and include a continental breakfast, lunch, and a Zoom attendance option.
This year’s Leadership Conference will be held at Mariposa Hunters Point Yacht Club in San Francisco on March 7, 2026. While the speaker lineup has not yet been finalized, the flyer below provides an overview of the event. More information is also available on the PICYA website.

Opening Day on the Bay – April 26, 2026
On Sunday, April 26, 2026, you are invited to attend PICYA’s Opening Day on the Bay, celebrating PICYA’s 130th anniversary and the 109th year of Opening Day on the Bay.
Opening Day marks the official start of the boating season on San Francisco Bay and draws participation from across the region.
This year’s theme, Myths and Legends, celebrates maritime folklore, mythology, and storytelling. The Decorated Boat Parade — a signature highlight of Opening Day — brings the theme to life through creatively adorned vessels and remains one of the most anticipated and visually striking elements of the event.
There are two ways to participate:
1. Enter a Boat in the Parade
Your club may enter one or more boats in the parade. Boats may be fully decorated according to the theme, fly flags and streamers, or participate without decoration. There is no cost to enter the parade, and prizes are awarded in multiple categories. We hope to have at least one boat from SLTWYC participate this year.
2. Attend the Official Cruise
Join PICYA Officers and Directors for the 109th Opening Day Official Cruise aboard the Luxe Cruises vessel Cabernet Sauvignon. Guests will enjoy spectacular views of the parade and beautiful San Francisco Bay. The cruise includes a continental breakfast, a buffet lunch prepared by Luxe Cruises’ chefs, a no-host (cash) bar, and a front-row view of the parade — the judges will be onboard.
The cost for the “Day on the Bay” is $135 per person through March 15; after that date, the price increases to $145. A reserved table for 10 before March 15 is $1,200 ($120 per person). We are working to assemble a full table before the deadline. If you are interested in joining our table, please contact Linda Gordon at picya@sltwyc.org so that reservations can be submitted together prior to March 15.
