This month, we’re celebrating two longtime members whose journey together has been filled with adventure, community service, and a love for the water. From a chance meeting that led to a year-long honeymoon in Hawaii to solo sailing trips and bringing Habitat for Humanity to Tahoe, Mort and Carolyn have truly made their mark. Rescue on the Lake
Kevin Kornegay of SLTWYC received PICYA’s Meritorious Service Award for his swift response to a boat in distress on Lake Tahoe. While aboard the Phoenix, a repurposed fireboat, he radioed for emergency aid, prompting a multi-agency rescue that saved the vessel and its passengers. His quick actions and use of Channel 16 proved vital in the successful operation. Congratulations, Kevin!

Lynn Woodward
Our featured member, Lynn Woodward, is an incredibly accomplished sailor, breaking into competitive sailing during an era when women were not widely welcomed in the sport.
