Kevin Kornegay of SLTWYC received PICYA’s Meritorious Service Award for his swift response to a boat in distress on Lake Tahoe. While aboard the Phoenix, a repurposed fireboat, he radioed for emergency aid, prompting a multi-agency rescue that saved the vessel and its passengers. His quick actions and use of Channel 16 proved vital in the successful operation. Congratulations, Kevin!
The yacht club’s fleet is taking to the water again. This week, the Expressway was reassembled, her hull freshly painted and gleaming. The crew then set out onto the lake for the Beer Can Race, our fun weekly event.
Mike Robinson and Jen Frasier helped a friend sail Dream, a Sceptre-41, from the Baja peninsula across the Sea of Cortez to the mainland side of Mexico. They then helped decommission the boat to prepare for trailering back to Richmond.
