Hello everyone,
Our amazing Communications Chairperson, Georgette, requested content for our monthly newsletter. As Secretary, I don’t have much to report, however, as a member I do have something worth sharing. I was presented with the opportunity to speak one-on-one with several of our newer members over the past couple of months. The topics covered a wide range (and on a few occasions, may have involved happy hour cocktails).
Specifically, a shout-out to new member Howard for having a great idea on simplifying the race committee lunch order process. Plus, he is a really interesting guy, so during our next social event, make a point to have a conversation with him! I won’t mention other names, but what really struck me after our collective conversations was the shared vision these members have for the future of our club. As anyone who has ever served on a board or committee knows, it is an incredible thing to have a common vision and goals. We even have a member who has a creative yet analytical method to bring these concepts to fruition.
Although quite a few of us are stepping down from our respective board positions, I believe we are all looking forward to the energy, enthusiasm and ideas that will continue to come forth. A common thing that happens is the old “well, we have always done it this way.” With our club, I don’t think any of us are caught up in that. We have done things a certain way because we were focused on keeping the club intact through some challenging circumstances, and we did. I am really looking forward to how our club is going to grow and evolve, and plan to support our “next generation” to the best of my ability!
PS I do have one thing to report as Secretary: all our approved meeting minutes have been posted on our club’s website under the “members only” section. If you suffer from insomnia, here’s your cure.
