Longtime members John and Carol reflect on their journey from meeting at Hughes Aircraft to embracing life in South Lake Tahoe, where they enjoy sailing, skiing, community service, and adventurous travels—all while fostering meaningful connections through the yacht club.

Tad Woodward passed away November 9, 2024 at the age of 90. He is survived by his wife Pat, two adult children, and four grandchildren.

Kevin Kornegay of SLTWYC received PICYA’s Meritorious Service Award for his swift response to a boat in distress on Lake Tahoe. While aboard the Phoenix, a repurposed fireboat, he radioed for emergency aid, prompting a multi-agency rescue that saved the vessel and its passengers. His quick actions and use of Channel 16 proved vital in the successful operation. Congratulations, Kevin!

Our featured member, Lynn Woodward, is an incredibly accomplished sailor, breaking into competitive sailing during an era when women were not widely welcomed in the sport.
